Shaan was born in a Bengali Family that already has a substantial existence in the Bollywood music industry. His father was a famous music director and it was not a difficult dream for him to get established as a famous singer. Shaan initially started by singing in various advertisements and soon he was welcomed by the music composers and directors to sing various remix versions of different songs. He recorded his first track at the age of 15 years for the movie ‘Parinda’ by just singing a single line in the song. Shaan started his career with the combined album with his sister ‘Sagarika’ and then decided to sing solo. He released his first solo album in the year 2000 ‘Tanha Dil’ and got the best solo album award in the same year. Shaan got recognition as the emerging talented singer after the success of his second solo album named ‘Aksar’ In addition to this, Shaan has also given his voice to many bollywood tracks as a playback singer that has made his singing a popular not only at national level but at the international level. He has collected many awards for his beautiful playback singing in many bollywood movies including Hum Tum, Dhoom, Dus, Dil chahta hai, Sallam Namaste, Kal Ho Na Ho. Shaan has been performing brilliantly as a host on many singing talent shows. He initially hosted Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV and then was replaced by Aditya Narayan. At present, he is hosting another famous reality show on television ‘Amul Star Voice of India’. Shaan has also judged many reality shows in his career. Talking about his personal life, he got married to Radhika and has two sons Shubh and Soham. Shaan also tried the flavor of acting and acted with Raveena Tandon in the movie Daman. He has also given guest appearances in the movies Zameen and Hungama. Shaan’s soft and melodious voice is a perfect choice to sing romantic songs. He has recently received Filmfare best male playback singer for the tracks ‘Chand Sifarish’ (Fanna), ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’ (Sawariya).
