Kay Kay was born in Kerala and was brought up in Delhi. He did his schooling from Mount St. Mary's School and completed his graduation from Delhi University. He was passionate about pursuing a music career and for that he waited for six months and finally he got an opportunity to sing an ad jingle.
Kay Kay recorded his presence in the support song prepared for team ‘India’ titled as ‘Josh of India’ in the Cricket World Cup 1999. Then after, he released his own personal album titled as ‘Pal’ that proved to be the biggest music album hit of the year. The song was successful in touching the chords of millions. This album popularized him and made him a star singer. Further this success opened many doors to welcome his talent star.
Kay Kay got his first break to sing for the movie Maachis and the track ‘Chhod Aaye Hum’, was again a super hit again. The big break in his career was when he was offered to lent his voice in the movie of Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam) for the track ‘Tadap Tadap’. This number did wonders on the play list and showcased his real talent. From then onwards he was brought to the limelight and received many big proposals from the leading music directors and composers.
Numbers voiced by Kay Kay continuously topped the chart lists. The list includes some all time favorite tracks like ‘Tu Aashique hai’ (Jhankaar beats) and ‘Awarapan Banjarapan’ (Jism). For ‘Tu Aashique hai’ he received a National award. Recently he lent his voice to super hit track ‘Khuda Jaane’ from the movie ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ that is one of the chartbuster of the year.
Further, Kay Kay also offered his voice to various tracks in other languages including Tamil and Telugu. Some of his Tamil songs famous in Chennai are ‘My name is Billa’. It can be said that the recent hit playlist includes a major contribution of Kay Kay. His unique singing style and voice had made movie like Gangster, Om Shanti Om, Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar’ and ‘Wo Lamhe’ the favourites of many of us.
