Asha Bhosle- one of the legendary singers of the country, was born in Maharashtra. She was blessed to have Dinanath Mangeshkar as her father who was a trainer of classical music. Both the sisters, Asha and Lata, were trained by their father and they always dreamed to make their career in playback singing. Lata Mangeshkar decided to stick to a particular genre of singing whereas Asha Bhosle wanted to experiences different forms of singing. Asha Bhosle got her first debut for the movie Chunaria in the year 1948. She has always been compared with her sister and due to this she had to struggle harder to make a reputable mark in the Indian music Industry. Asha Bhosle was married twice. In 1950, Asha tied the knot of marriage with Ganpat Rao Bhosle but got divorced and had to accept the available singing offers to make a living for her three children. In spite of facing so many ups and downs in her personal life, Asha Bhosle never let her strength go down and struggled even harder. The turning point of her career came in the year 1957 when she was approached by O.P Nayyar to sing for the movie ‘Tumsa Nahi Dekha’ and ‘Naya Daur’. All the tracks of these movies did a lot for Asha Bhosle to mark her name in the list of fine singers of that era. In the movies like ‘Lajwanti’, ‘Howra Bridge’, ‘Chalti ka Naam Gaadi’, Asha voiced a number of tracks that took her to the top of the industry right after her sister. At that time these two sisters were the queens who were ruling the charts. Unlike her sister, Asha experimented different styles of singing rather than sticking to a particular format. She has been recognized as a singer who can sing both peppy and soft numbers with utmost perfection, charm and ease. In the year 1980, Asha once again decided to get married and she made a life long commitment with R.D Burman. Asha Bhosle did a remarkable work with her second husband and both together gave several all time great hits like ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, ‘Jawani Deewani’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baraat’ and ‘Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin’ and many more.
