Aatif Aslam was born and brought up in Pakistan and did his schooling from Lahore and Rawalpindi. He went to Norway when he was nine and studied in Saint Paul’s School there. From a very young age, Aatif wanted to pursue a career in cricket as cricket was his sole aim and passion in life. Aatif came back to Lahore in the year 1995 and got selected as a bowler in the school cricket team. He was practising hard to be a proficient player and for that he was taking lessons from Imran Khan for bowling. While Aatif was studying in Fizzia Air Force College, he sang for his friends at the college canteen. His friends almost bullied him to participate in the college singing competitions and Aslam won all the singing contests one after the other. Finally he was no more allowed to participate in the college festivals as well as in the competitions so that someone can also get an opportunity to win. Aatif Aslam met a guitarist named as Goher in his college and together they formed a team and performed in many small restaurants and local concerts. He made his debut when ‘Jal’ recorded his song ‘Aadat’ which became quite popular with the audiences and was aired on many Pakistani radio stations. Aatif Aslam had some disputes with the band members of ‘Jal’ and decided to leave the group and perform solo. He was again wrapped up in the controversy as some of the tracks in his solo album were similar to those of the album released by his ex- band. As a result of which, Aatif was banned to perform in Pakistan for two years. Aatif Aslam entered in Bollywood when he was approached by Mahesh Bhatt to voice for the track ‘Wo Lamhe’ in his movie ‘Zeher’. This track was a super hit number and brought Aatif in the limelight. After that he released his solo album ‘Doorie’ which was also quite admired b the listeners. Aatif is honoured by many music awards in many concerts to appreciate his good work. His soulful and expressive singing has made him love of millions. And fortunately today, Aatif is one of the youngest and most demanded composer and lyricist in Bollywood Music Industry.
