Jatin-Lalit, were born in a family which have all its members from a musical background. They were the nephew of great classical musician, Pandit Jasraj. They received their basic musical training from their father Pratap Narayan. They learnt to play piano and guitar from Laxmikant Pyarelal. Aadesh Srivastva is their brother in law who has been married to their younger sister Vijeta Pandit. Jatin-Lalit made a start in the Industry when they were offered to compose music for ‘Yaraa Dildaara’ but were left un-noticed. They received a glare of publicity when they composed music for the Hindi movie ‘Khiladi’. They were highly admired for composing the track ‘Pehla Nasha’ for the movie ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’ which opened many doors for this composer duo. Jatin-Lalit, have worked with the top lyricists and singers of the Industry including the legends like Anad Bakshi, Udit Narayan, Javed Akhtar and Kumar Sanu. Together they ruled the charts with many romantic as well as cheery songs. They also chose many of the Bollywood actors to sing their compositions one of those was ‘Ae kya bolti tu’ which was a super hit track sung by Aamir khan. Jatin made special appearances in many Bollywood movies such as Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and also added his presence in ‘Ruth ke humse kahin’. Jatin-Lalit, were also impugned of plagiarizing the compositions. They accepted in an interview that they borrow ideas from different composers since composing has become very monotonous in today’s age. Jatin-Lalit, have been a judge at the singing reality show ‘Amul star voice of India’ and ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ on Zee TV. In the year 2006, they decided to split up and carry their solo careers due to their personal clashes. Media and many writers have cited the reason as a financial dispute between the two. Jatin-Lalit, have been honoured with many awards for their grand contribution to the Indian music Industry. They won the Film fare award for the song ‘Chand Sifarish’ for the movie ‘Fanna.’ A short time ago, they composed few numbers for the movie ‘Mr’ Black Mr. White’. The two of them carried their 16 year duo career brilliantly and ruled the hearts of millions.
