Daler Mehndi was born in a Gursikh family in Patna and was brought up there. He has his actual origin in Patiala, Punjab, India. He was a born singer and started at a very tender age of six and used to sing ragas and shlokas from the Sikh Holy book ‘Guru Granth Sahib’. Daler Mehndi started practising to groom his voice and learnt playing several instruments from his Guru Raahat Ali Khan Saheb. Daler Mehndi got married in the year 1986 and went to San Francisco and there made a living by driving a cab. He came back to India and formed a band here in the year 1991. He started singing Ghazals at the outset, as he was greatly inspired by the two famous poets Qateel Shifai and Firaq Gorakhpuri. Daler Mehndi is one of the popular names that click your mind whenever you talk about the origination of pop and rap music in the Punjabi Music Industry. He entered the industry with the smash hit album ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra Ra’, the tones of which were given by none other than Daler’s mother. This album recorded highest sales in during that year and Daler Mehndi received the award in ‘Asia International Pop and Ethnic Music Contest.’ He recorded several other hit albums such as ‘Dar Di Rab Rab’ and ‘Ho Jaegi Balle Balle’. Further, he made guest appearances in many Bollywood movies like ‘Arjun Pandit and ‘Mrityudata’. Daler Mehndi’s singing style is dominated by Sufiana touch and some of his songs connect the listeners with almighty. Daler Mehndi’s stardom was also not spared from controversies. He was accused of being involved in a deceit of sending illegal immigrants to Canada, which he absolutely denied. He got unintentionally involved in the kissing scandal of Rakhi Sawant and his brother Mika. Daler also received court summons from Indian Islamic group as they were having certain objections regarding the lyrics used by him. Daler Mehndi is a kind-hearted person who is deeply involved in various charitable activities. He had also made numerous efforts in making the environment cleaner and greener. Daler whole heartedly supported the Gujarat earth quake victims and built homes for many of them to provide them with shelter.
