A.R Rehman, born in Chennai, is a composer, musician and record producer who has made firm recognition on national as well as international level. He is a genius composer and has astonishing grip on several languages. With his divine compositions and soulful music, Rehman holds the record of being amongst the highest number of music albums sold by any artist at international level. A.R Rehman lost his father when he was only nine and started singing to earn a living for his family. His family had a religion transformation and accepted Islam. He learnt to play many instruments as his interest was not just in playing music but also he was enticed by technology. He got his music training from his master Dhanraaj and soon at the age of eleven he joined a troupe. This way he got gripped in the alluring world of music and never looked back. Later he got a graduation degree in western classical music from London. Initially, Rehman was given assignments and projects to compose ad jingles but later he was approached for the first time by Mani Ratnam to compose music for the Tamil movie ‘Roja’ which received an awesome response from the listeners. Till date A.R Rehman has added endless number of hit tracks in his collection by giving music in the movies of many legendary directors namely Mani Ratnam, Subhash Ghai and Yash Raj films. Not only in Hindi movies but A.R Rehman has spread his magic in the movies directed in other languages as well.
